Managing Big Emotions in the Classroom: The Science Behind the Behaviors

Description: This full-day professional development session will equip teachers with research-based strategies to support students’ emotional development, improve classroom behavior, and foster a calm, connected learning environment. Through a blend of interactive discussions, role-playing exercises, and hands-on classroom applications, teachers will learn:

  • How emotions impact brain development and learning
  • Strategies to recognize and respond to students’ emotional needs
  • How to create a regulation-friendly classroom (check-ins, calm-down spaces, SEL routines)
  • Practical scripts and language shifts to de-escalate emotional moments
  • Daily habits that build resilience and emotional intelligence in students.

 

Target Audience: PreK-12 Educators

Please note: Participants should bring laptops.
