What is a School Counselor?
A counselor is a person who is trained to understand that our students are uniquely individual people. We live during a time when students face more challenges than ever before: peer pressure, dating issues, health-related concerns, drugs, career assessment issues, and college/technical education selection, and changing family structures.
What can a School Counselor do for students?
The counselor’s job is to help students sort out their concerns in these various areas, to help them succeed in school and to help them reach their full potential. A counselor is a trained listener who can help students find solutions to some of the difficulties they may be facing in their lives that interfere with their educational success.
The counselors at CV-TEC work in cooperation with career/technical teachers, academic teachers, parents, and 15 home schools to assist students in addressing areas such as those listed below:
