The 2024 Regional Spelling Bee will be held at Beekmantown High School Auditorium on Monday, March 4, 2024. Doors open for participants and spectators at 4:00 pm, and the Bee will begin at 5:00 pm.
Last year’s Grand Champion and Grade 6 Champion winner Leah Rini was from Beekmantown. The Regional Spelling Bee is held at the school of the previous year’s Grand Champion, and Leah also won Beekmantown the honor of hosting this year’s Bee!
There are 47 spellers in this year’s competition representing 18 schools across the CVES BOCES region.
The Bee will consist of several rounds. Rounds one, two and three will be oral performances on the auditorium stage. Those still taking part after round 3 will move on to round 4 which will be a written performance in a separate location. Spellers who successfully complete round 4, the written round, will return to the auditorium stage for the remaining rounds. All remaining rounds will be oral. There will be a winner at each grade level as well as an overall winner and a runner-up.
The overall winner will earn a place in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Click here to view the Regional Spelling Bee official rules.
