CVES Celebrates 75 Years of Excellence

Champlain Valley Educational Services BOCES celebrated its 75th Anniversary this year. To commemorate the milestone, a daytime and an evening event was held.

As the celebration of CVES’s 75th Anniversary unfolded, attendees gathered at the CVES Conference Center to experience a remarkable Walk-Through-Time memorabilia exhibit. This carefully curated display beautifully highlighted the institution’s rich history and the milestones that have defined its legacy. Among those honored were the many retirees whose dedication and contributions have been instrumental in shaping CVES (CEWW) BOCES and the lives of its students. The presence of these esteemed individuals was both inspiring and humbling, serving as a testament to the commitment that has driven the organization forward.

The day’s events also featured a press conference with inspiring remarks from CVES Board President Mr. Michael St. Pierre, Assemblyman Billy Jones, Town of Plattsburgh Supervisor Michael Cashman, and New York State Senator Dan Stec. Assemblyman Jones and Supervisor Cashman presented proclamations, adding a meaningful touch to the occasion. An educational panel discussion with NYSED Commissioner Dr. Rosa and Senior NYSED Leaders Dr. Matteson and Mr. Frank provided valuable insights, reinforcing the importance of continued progress in education.

The 75th Anniversary celebration culminated in the Diamonds and Denim Gala Reception at the Westside Ballroom. The elegant setting reflected the spirit of the milestone, creating a memorable evening for all in attendance.

As guests entered the Westside Ballroom, they were struck by its beauty and the way it embodied the spirit of CVES—an organization built on five generations of dedication and care. Deputy Superintendent Dr. Eric Bell served as an exceptional Master of Ceremony, guiding the evening with professionalism and enthusiasm. Remarks were once again shared by Mr. St. Pierre and Mr. Frank, along with Regent Dr. Roger Catania, Board of Regents Member (4th Judicial District), who offered thoughtful reflections on the significance of the milestone. The evening also provided an opportunity to highlight key moments in CVES’s 75-year journey.

To close the program, Ms. Cynthia Ford-Johnston, Foundation Chairperson and retired Superintendent, announced the exciting launch of the CVES Educational Foundation. This initiative will continue to support the institution’s mission and future growth. The entire evening was a resounding success, reflecting the deep commitment of those who have shaped CVES and ensuring that its legacy will continue for generations to come.
