Mineville

Jump-start your career in the construction industry by learning hands-on skills at CV-TEC. With the emphasis on green building practices and new technologies, the construction industry has evolved into a high-tech occupation that requires skilled workers. A two-year certificate from CV-TEC can give you the edge you need in an industry that is projected to grow within the next 10 years. This class emphasizes hands-on skills. Students are out in the community gaining experience while working on residential and commercial community building projects. You can earn credit and give back to the community all at the same time. Students may also have the opportunity to job shadow and participate in work experience with local contractors and tradesmen.

Plattsburgh

This technical training program uses a hands-on approach to gaining marketable skills in the general industry of construction. Utilizing tools and materials found in the trade, students will learn about carpentry, electrical, masonry, and plumbing. Emphasis is on the framing of a house using a “whole house” performance based approach, utilizing the most up-to-date practices in regards to health, safety and a green tomorrow. Curriculum components include new green energy building and testing standards. The knowledge and skills learned will enable the student to gain employment and advance quickly in the construction industry at the same time. Students may also have the opportunity to job shadow and participate in work experience with local contractors and tradesmen.
