8:1:1 Academic/Behavior Skills Program – Mineville

This is an 8:1:2 (8 students, 1 teacher, and 2 teaching assistants), high school level classroom for students aged 15-21 who may have borderline to average cognitive abilities. Students in this program may have a mental health diagnosis, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and/or severe learning disabilities. They may display challenging behaviors that interfere with learning.

Curriculum Focus:

  • High school level program appropriate for 15-21 year old students
  • More rigorous academic curriculum, and the opportunity to earn high school credit
  • May require curricular modifications and supports
  • May require intensive adult support
  • Modified regent’s/general education curriculum
  • May require emphasis on communication, language skills, Adaptive Behavior Analysis, visual supports, sensory regulation
  • May require support/instruction in activities of daily living
  • Career exploration/pre-vocational skills
