6:1:1 Autism Program

This is a 6:1:1 classroom (6 students, 1 teacher, and 1 teaching assistant) for students with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or similar presentation.

These children have significant deficits in communication skills and may have significant deficits in adaptive behavior. These children also display challenging behaviors that interfere with learning. Our program uses research-based methodologies such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Visual Strategies, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS), augmentative communications systems, functional behavioral assessment and Positive Behavior Supports to assist students in attending programs in the least restrictive environment.

• Pre-vocational and/or vocational skills

• Intensive adult support and structured program with consistent routines
• Instruction and support with social and behavioral skills
• Highly specialized educational program that facilitates the acquisition, application, and
transfer of skills across natural environments
• Assistive technology
• Personal care services
• Behavior and crisis support
• Frequent collaboration and communication with parents and community service
providers

Credential Earned:
• Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC)

Possible Transition Following Graduation:

• Supported employment (OPWDD)
