Counseling

“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” –  Unknown

counseling staff2The counseling department at Champlain Valley Educational Services offers a variety of services to address all students’ academic, career, behavioral and personal/social needs. Counseling service are provided by certified school counselors, school psychologists, and school social workers.

Counseling is an educationally related support service which can be offered to students who appear to demonstrate emotional/behavioral problems or conflicts that negatively affect their ability to learn.

Our counselors serve as a liaison between home, school and community agencies. Some of the community agencies include mental health services, department of social services, extracurricular activities or groups, family counseling, support groups, etc.  In addition to counseling our School Psychologists offer comprehensive psychological evaluations, as well as consult with school personnel in relation to students’ learning, behavior, and environments.  Our counseling department collaborates with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students.

A unique counseling and psychological assessment service we provide is a school psychologist, fluent in American Sign Language, who is trained to work with individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, and children with cochlear implants as well as hearing students.

The services listed are some of the more frequent services provided but is not a complete listing. Services are individualized to the student as no two students are the same.
