The Wiggle Room is designed to be a proactive approach for children with sensory needs. However, it can also be used to assist children with sensory needs to regulate themselves back to an optimal level of sensory regulation. The room is set up with visual cards located on the wall for suggested sensory activities to assist these children in choosing appropriate sensory activities. They are color coded to the child’s needs. The arrows in the right upper corner of the cards indicates the response. If the arrow is red and pointing down theses are calming activities. These can be used to assist the excited child to calm down and proceed to the classroom for academics. The green arrow is for the lethargic child and yellow is neutral and is uses to stay at an optimal level.
