Therapeutic Crisis for Schools Update: TCIS Revisions (TCIS UP)

Description: The goal of this course is twofold. It is for TCIS trainers to get recertified, and for them to become certified to train edition 2 of the TCIS curriculum. Only TCIS trainers may attend. All current trainers must received this two-day refresher to update to the newest curriculum.
Participants will develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the TCIS curriculum necessary to deliver the training to staff in their schools. Participants will have the chance to participate, practice, and receive feedback in conducting activities to gain immediate training experience. Training techniques such as role plays, small group discussions, reflective exercises, conducting practice sessions, and using audiovisual aids will be demonstrated. The curriculum is evidence-informed and trauma-sensitive. Participants will receive all the necessary materials to conduct the TCIS training program for their school district.

Cornell will send pre-reading materials for this training the week of TBD. It will contain the reference guide, agenda, and certification requirements. Participants are required to read and understand the material before the training begins. These will be sent to the school address listed on the participants’ registration forms. If an alternate address is preferred, please have participants reach out to Alissa Burns Medero at ab358@cornell.edu. Cancellations must be received prior to the shipment of materials. Once materials have been sent to participants, the full cost of the training will be incurred.
