Description: This interactive workshop is designed to refamiliarize participants with the Next Generation ELA standards and the expectations for the 2024 ELA Assessments. A brief overview of assessment trends in our BOCES will provide us with a starting point for discussion. Utilizing the new ELA Educator’s Guide to the 2024 Grades 3-8 ELA Tests and the ELA Crosswalk Document, participants will have the opportunity to revisit grade level standards and review the new assessment format, question types, and standards assessed. The workshop addresses the following:
- How did the transition from Common Core Standards (2011) to Next Generation Standards (2017) impact state testing?
- How does text complexity play a role in the delivery of instruction and boosting student stamina?
- How do parallel formative assessments prepare students for critical thinking and successful performance on end of year assessments?
