Next Generation Algebra I and Geometry Standards & Assessment Workshop

Presenter: Melissa Dudyak, CVES Math Facilitator, Danielle Janisewski, CVES SEL Facilitator
Description: This interactive workshop is designed to refamiliarize participants with the Next Generation Math standards and the expectations for the 2024 and 2025 Assessments. A brief overview of assessment trends for Algebra and Geometry domains will provide us with a starting point for discussion. Using Algebra and Geometry Crosswalk Document, Snapshot Documents, and Sample Regents questions, participants will have the chance to revisit math learning standards, review question types, and standards assessed. The workshop addresses the following:
- How did the Next Generation Standards impact the state standards for Math 8 and Algebra II?
- How does the Next Generation for Algebra and Geometry affect your classroom timeline and current curriculum?
- Analyze released Regents questions for discussion and colleague collaboration.
- Discuss and demonstrate activities to help your students to prepare emotionally for a Regents.
Please note: Participants MUST bring laptops to access resources. Also, bring any created materials that you are willing to share with the group. There will be time provided for collaboration.
