Description: In Spring 2024, 5th and 8th grade students will be required to complete the NYS ELA, Math, and Science assessments on a computer. The New York State assessments are a snapshot of what our students can do and we want to ensure that they are prepared physically, mentally, and emotionally to do their very best on that day. This workshop will share with teachers practices that can be used in their classrooms to prepare students to take an assessment on a computer. We will also explore how the Social Emotional Learning Standards and the new Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards impact our students’ preparedness for this shift in testing. We encourage teachers who are already seeing success with strategies in these areas to join us as we share our practices and engage in collegial dialogue. Participants will leave with strategies to utilize in their classrooms to support students with this new assessment process.
Please note: Participants should bring laptops and, if desired, hard copies of the materials sent out prior to the training. Also, bring any lessons or strategies currently used for CBT prep to share with the group. There will be time provided to apply workshop information to hands-on activities.
