Description: This interactive workshop will explore NYS initiatives to promote student writing. Looking at the Lifelong Practices of Writers, participants will investigate using writing as a tool for inquiry, communicating and learning across disciplines. The workshop will address the following strategies: using scaffolds, implementing the writing process, providing writing models and exploring other research – based techniques. Participants will leave with hands-on writing tips and activities that develop student language skills and deepen academic learning.
Please note: Participants are asked to bring a current lesson, activity, grade level plan or cross curricular unit. Time will be allotted for application of workshop information and discussion to your own curriculum. Participants are expected to bring their own laptops for use during the workshop.
