Teacher Certification Service – CoSer 607

Champlain Valley Educational Services (Clinton-Essex-Warren-Washington Counties BOCES) provides assistance through a Regional Office for individuals residing and/or employed within the CEWW BOCES Region seeking New York State Teacher Certification. The assistance takes the form of:

  • Providing information regarding certification regulations and requirements: Search Certification Requirements
  • Providing information regarding the testing requirements for NYS Teacher Certification: www.nystce.nesinc.com
  • Providing, upon request, forms to be used by individuals when making requests of the NYS Education Department’s Office of Teaching New York State Office of Teaching
  • Review of transcripts, credentials, and applications for teacher certification
  • Submission of applications for teacher certification to the State, if needed

The Regional Certification Office suggests that potential candidates currently matriculated in an approved college program leading to teacher certification apply through their college program office. Teacher Preparation Programs in NYS

The Regional Certification Office is authorized to evaluate an applicant’s credentials. Applicants interested in obtaining NYS certification must submit a completed application, official transcripts, and the appropriate fee. The process is quickest and easiest when completed online: Search Certification Requirements or Applying for a Certificate

The Regional Certification Office is empowered to make recommendations for provisional/initial or permanent/professional certification to SED in the following areas: elementary, secondary academic, special subjects, reading, special education, pupil personnel services, and school administrator and supervisor. Certification for school district administrator, teaching assistants, and career and technical education are handled only by the State Education Department, Office of Teaching.
