The Regional Certification Office suggests that potential candidates currently matriculated in an approved college program leading to teacher certification apply through their college program office. Teacher Preparation Programs in NYS
The Regional Certification Office is authorized to evaluate an applicant’s credentials. Applicants interested in obtaining NYS certification must submit a completed application, official transcripts, and the appropriate fee. The Regional Certification Office is empowered to make recommendations for provisional/initial or permanent/professional certification to SED in the following areas: elementary, secondary academic, special subjects, reading, special education, pupil personnel services, and school administrator and supervisor. Certification for school district administrator, teaching assistants, and career and technical education are handled only by the State Education Department, Office of Teaching.
