BOCES Cross Contracts

Cooperative Purchase (St. Lawrence): CoSer 601

This service is provided through a cross contract with the St. Lawrence Board of Cooperative Educational Services and provides districts and our Board of Cooperative Educational Services with the opportunity to participate in group purchasing to effect savings on equipment, supplies, etc.

State Aid Planning Service (QUESTAR): CoSer 645

This service is provided through a cross contract with the Rensselaer-Columbia-Greene Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Estimates of state aid and state aid reports are prepared for participating school districts based on data provided by the school districts.

The yearly service includes: assistance in generation and auditing of state aid forms; regional workshops; hot line service; assistance in understanding conceptual framework of state aid in New York State; maximizing state aid; analysis of legislative proposals for state aid to education; legislative monitoring; state aid projections; school district financial comparisons (regional, county, statewide); assistance with presentation material (board, public).

School Board Policy Handbook (Erie I): CoSer 618

This service is provided through a cross contract with the Erie 1 Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Board Policy Handbook Service is a process tailored to the special needs of a school district resulting in an organized Board of Education Policy Handbook. Board members and administrative staff are involved in the formulation and review of multiple drafts. The comprehensive process involves reviewing Board minutes from the previous three years and current documents that may contain policy statements.

Existing policies are examined and, when necessary, are updated to be in compliance with federal and State mandates. Policies are suggested based on needs identified by the district staff or recommended by the Erie 1 consultant. Additional input is gained through interviews with additional Board members and selected administrators.
