The Substitute Coordination service is designed to offer districts an automated substitute system that is accessible via the web and telephone. Using an Internet-based system, substitute and teacher database, help desk personnel and priority lists, this service assigns the best-qualified substitute to fill teacher absences while giving districts immediate access to data. The service enables daily absences to be filled by substitutes from a directory of available substitutes that are approved by participating districts. The service provides internet and telephone access for participating districts, employees and substitutes. Effective classroom teaching is highly related to student achievement. The ability to provide high quality substitutes for teacher absences will assure continuity of student learning. The challenge is finding substitutes, best matched with the classroom assignment (grade level, subject area) and in contacting substitutes in a timely manner. This service provides a database that includes teaching certification against which vacancies can be filled. This service provides a 24/7 system in which substitutes are matched to vacancies and contacted, resulting in fewer unfilled absences.
