Computer Repair – CoSer 512-6312

Services:

  • CVES has a Dell-certified technician on staff, able to repair Dell Desktops and Laptops that are under warranty at no additional cost.   We can provide non-warranty repairs on all other commercially available computers and laptops at the cost of just part(s).
  • We can repair cracked or broken LCD screens including but not limited to iPads, iPhones, Android Tablets, and Chromebooks for a fraction of the cost.
  • We are able to access parts for HP LaserJet printers, and repair most other Manufacturers’ standard LaserJet printers in a timely manner.
  • We can facilitate direct, non-warranty Apple repairs at the cost of parts, and facilitate Apple Warranty repairs by sending directly to Apple.

Equipment Repair Examples:

Portable Devices:

  • iPads/iPods/iPhones, Android Tablets, Chromebooks, Microsoft Surface, and Windows Tablets

Computer equipment:

  • Desktops, laptops, All-In-One Computers, External Drives and UPS systems

Printers:

  • Color Laser Printers, Black and White Laser Printers, and Inkjet Printers

Cost Effective Repairs:

Districts that are a part of the Co-ser are only charged for the required replacement parts.  Many repairs can be performed without the need to order any parts at all.  In the cases where parts are necessary, they are purchased through vendors that supply OEM quality parts to assure a smoother and more reliable repair.  If for some reason a machine that is sent in for repair cannot be repaired, or is not cost effective for repair, the option is available for having the machine stripped for useable parts and stored on site for future repairs or sent back to the district for self-serviceable repairs such as RAM upgrades. One good example would be a defective motherboard on a MacBook laptop.  While the motherboard might make the laptop itself cost-prohibitive for repair, it has many parts attached that are still good and can be used in future repairs.  The LCD screen can be saved for a cracked screen repair, the RAM can be saved for a RAM upgrade in a slower machine that takes the same type of memory, and the HDD can be used to replace a defective HDD in any machine that takes a similar size drive. We also maintain a supply of regular or standard repair parts to speed up the repair process such as disc drives, hard drives and power supplies. If requested by the school district we can order parts ahead of time for fast replacement, for example iPad Air 2 LCD screens.

Data Privacy:

Data contains sensitive information, including student records, personnel records, financial data, and protected health information. If the information on those systems is not properly removed before the equipment is disposed of, that information could be accessed and viewed by unauthorized individuals. As such, CVES takes extra precautions in disposing of Technology Equipment, including removing and physically destroying hard drives. If requested by the school district we can return any hard drives to that school district.  We also would only examine/extract the hard drive’s contents by the request of the school district.
