Dr. Katanna Conley, a national presenter from the Public Consulting Group, Inc. (PCG), the same group that presents at SED’s ELA Network Team Institutes, is coming to our region to build high school faculty members’ skill sets in strategic areas of CCLS module implementation, increasing their capacity to design and implement Common Core-aligned materials effectively.

This is an exciting opportunity for the North Country. The training will be comprehensive and offered in such a way that educators will be able to put their learning into practice, reflect and refine. The idea is for each district to bring a high school team of teachers (English, Social Studies, Science, Business, Technology, etc.) who can then go back to their districts and assist in the implementation of the ELA CCLS at the high school level across all content areas.

This professional development opportunity will consist of three key goals:

Increase capacity of educators across the curriculum to teach close reading, vocabulary, argumentative writing, and inquiry-based research.

Build the skills of faculty members in all content areas to implement the NYS Common Core Learning Standards for ELA and the instructional shifts.

Increase consistent implementation of the NYS Common Core Learning Standards for ELA across the region.

Additional topics may include but are not limited to:

Implementation of the NYS ELA Modules

Adapting the curriculum

Scaffolding for struggling learners

To Register: Please mail your Registration Form to the CVES Instructional Services Center
at the above address or FAX it to: 518-561-0240

*Cost for districts not participating in the School Improvement CoSer 506 is estimated at $937.50
