Career Connect 2017 is scheduled for May 18, 2017 at SUNY Plattsburgh’s Angell College Center
A planning committee is organizing a Career Connect Showcase at SUNY Plattsburgh on May 18, 2017 to serve as a culminating event for the third year of this initiative. The goal of the Showcase is to share Career Cluster standards aligned student research projects and connect students with area business or community organization partners in relevant fields around the 16 career clusters. (see below)
Students have been researching information related to a career cluster they are interested in throughout this school year. The Committee hopes that area businesses and organizations are willing to participate and provide additional information for the students to become more knowledgeable of the various career opportunities in a specific cluster, the training and education needed, and possible career advancement opportunities. Business Partners are encouraged to bring displays, brochures, business cards and other materials to engage the students.
Three school districts will be attending from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and three districts from 11:55 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Students will visit three career clusters they have chosen prior to the day and include participation in a soft skills session. Students will also have the opportunity to visit with various representatives from colleges and career preparation centers. They will come with questions prepared in advance for CVES business partners or community organizations to help them answer.
If your business/organization wishes to participate, please complete the registration form below. The Career Connect Planning Committee hopes you are able to join us on May 18. Your business/organization will be able to set up in the afternoon on May 17th and/or early on May 18th. Lunch will be provided. Thank you in advance.
