DESCRIPTION:Location: CVES Conference Center at 1443 Military Turnpike\, Plattsburgh\n\nPresenter: Amy Campbell\, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services\, CVES and Sue Wilson\, Director of School Support Services\, CVES\n \nDescription: As New York State begins the rollout of the instructional and systems-level transformations outlined in the NY Inspires plan\, CVES is working to ensure that districts in our region are supported\, informed\, and positioned for successful implementation.\nThe NY Inspires Network for the CVES region is intended to provide shared understanding\, coordination\, and support.\nThe purpose of the network will be to:\n\nReview the current changes and expectations being implemented under NY Inspires\nEnsure all districts have a clear understanding of the work underway\nSupport districts in developing an individualized plan for implementation\nIdentify areas where additional guidance or support may be needed\n\nNetwork meetings will be held for a half day and will focus on practical planning\, shared problem-solving\, and alignment across districts.\nDistricts that determine they would benefit from more direct or intensive support will be provided with options for accessing that level of assistance through CVES.\n\nPlease note: This event is for those representatives identified by each district in the BOCES region.  All districts are encouraged to have representation.\n\nRegister Here:2026 – 2027 S3 Professional Development

SUMMARY:Checkpoint B (Grade 10) French and Spanish Regional Exams
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 29; Wednesday\, December 9; if needed Thursday\, January21 \n8:30 AM to 3:00 PM (Registration begins at 8:00 AM) Lunch will be provided \nCVES Conference Center at 1443 Military Turnpike\, Plattsburgh \nPresenter: Stephanie Sorgule\, School Support Services Assessment and Planning Coordinator \nParticipants will review and revise (if necessary) current World Language Checkpoint B exam formats and create question banks in French and Spanish for the Checkpoint B exams. Participants will supply in advance or bring with them reading passages\, realia\, and authentic documents in digital format to be used as the basis of listening and reading questions. Most of day1 will be spent writing test items using the submitted materials\, with the start of the day spent reviewing the current test format and guidelines for item writing. Day 2 will be for review of test bank items for quality\, levels\, and topics/standards. Additionally\, any revisions to administration manuals and rubrics will be done on this day. If necessary\, a day in January will be spent editing and doing a quality review on the test bank questions. A World Language consultant at CVES will choose questions from the banks to create the proficiency exams for the June 2027 administration by the end of March. A draft printing will take place in April. The exams will be reviewed and edited by individuals who do not have a vested interest in the outcomes of the tests in mid-April\, prior to the final printing.
