
Overview of the Grade 5 Elementary Science Investigations

Description:
This session is open to teachers directly responsible for administering the NYS required Curriculum Embedded Tasks (Investigations) for the Grade 5 Elementary-Level Science Test. Participants will explore the required Investigations that are the hands-on portion of the new fifth grade science exam. During this session, all four of the new tasks will be completed and participants will take a deep dive into both the teacher and student materials that accompany the Investigations. Additional time will be allotted for participants to discuss implementation ideas with colleagues from the region.
OUTCOMES:
Participants will be able to:
– explain the objectives and goals of each of the four Investigations
– successfully implement each Investigation in the classroom
– identify the different supports and scaffolds that might be necessary for students to be successful with these curriculum embedded tasks
Cost: $175 To be billed through 506 Co-Ser based on 20 participant enrollment. Registration will be capped at 40 participants based on the hands-on nature of the workshop.
