The New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) administration training equips educators to effectively administer assessments to students with severe cognitive disabilities. It covers test administration procedures, test security, and the use of accommodations and supports. The training focuses on the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) system, which provides adaptive, computer-delivered assessments in English Language Arts, mathematics, and science. Educators learn to ensure accessibility and integrity throughout the assessment process, supported by various resources like manuals and guidelines.
Although the training is scheduled for a half day, staff is welcome to stay beyond 11:30 if they would like assistance with or the time to complete the Personal Needs Profile and First Contact Survey required for each student taking the NYSAA.
The training is being combined for new and returning administrators.  This training is being held much later than usual, allowing more time for student and staff uploads into Educator Portal and for Building Test Administrators to create rosters. This also allows for the added benefit of occurring closer to the actual testing period.
