North Country Chief School Officer Academy – Session 4

The 2019-20 North Country Chief School Officer Academy is a professional development program expressly for CSOs. While it’s timely for new Superintendents, it’s also an excellent opportunity for sharing CSO tradecraft among Superintendents – whether they’re new to the Superintendent’s seat, mid-career or otherwise. The Academy consists of four half-day sessions, distributed across the fiscal year.

Preliminary budgeting suggests the four-session Academy’s cost (see workshop description for Academy curriculum) will be approximately $395.00 per Superintendent. Preliminary budgeting is based on at least six Superintendents participating for 2019-20. If a greater number of Superintendents participate, the cost per District could be adjusted accordingly. It is anticipated, with active participation from each BOCES, the workshops are forecasted to be shared between a CVES BOCES location and FEH BOCES location. Since this Academy is offered through CVES’ Cooperative Service #506 – School Improvement, your school district’s share of Academy’s cost is expected to be eligible for BOCES aid through CVES or aidable as a BOCES cross-contract.

Ensuring a strong finish for the school year; the final ‘push’ regarding budget development and the annual vote & election; effective strategies for ensuring successful year-end activities ceremonies and events; avoiding the somewhat predictable ‘potholes’ while winter transitions into spring. Using NYSCOSS, NYSSBA and ASBO publications to bolster your final weeks of budget development and public reporting. Sharing of practical, proven CSO tradecraft.
