Description: Throughout this interactive session, we will take a deep dive into the NYS Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards to inform instructional practice. Based on the analysis of NYS Grades 3-8 regional data, we will focus on those math concepts where we need to go deeper so we can help more students “see the big picture and make mathematical connections both within and across the grades.” Participants will receive a grade level toolkit or a grade band toolkit that provides educators with specific pages pertinent to their grade(s) from numerous NYSED resources, so they don’t have to cull through all the documents separately. We will focus on the language of mathematics, the importance of coherence across grades, targeted mathematical concepts and effective instructional practices based on the NYS Next Generation Math Learning Standards.
Special note: All participants MUST bring a laptop AND notify CVES in advance of which grade level(s)they are representing so they receive the appropriate toolkit. (We will be making specific grade level toolkits as well as P-4 and 5-8.)
Target Audience: Grade level teachers, Interventionists, Special Education teachers, Administrators for Grades 5-8
