Grades 6-12 New York State Science Learning Standards 3-D Instruction Workshop
January 23 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm EST$75
Presenters: Rebecca Shuman, Charlene Rydgren & Amanda Zullo
Location: CVES Instructional Services Center, Plattsburgh, NY
Cost: $75 per participant
NOTE: 15 participants/registrants needed in order to run this workshop
Teachers in grades K-3 and 6 should be integrating NYSSLSs and 3-dimensional instruction into their practice now so students are prepared for the coming shift in state assessments. All other grades should continue delving into the standards and working to enhance their comfort integrating the three dimensions of science instruction into their practice.
Workshop participants will engage in a 3-dimensional lesson followed by an analysis of the Science and Engineering Practices and Crosscutting Concepts inherent in the lesson. The format of the NYSSLSs will be explored focusing on 3-dimensional performance expectations, grade banding, and the linear progression. Time will be devoted to 3-D lesson construction with strategies modeled and supplemental resources made available. Access to a laptop/tablet is helpful.
