Description: This professional development workshop is designed to equip educators with effective strategies for increasing student engagement through movement and active learning. Grounded in research on the cognitive, social, and emotional benefits of physical activity in the classroom, this session will provide participants with practical tools to make learning more dynamic and interactive. The workshop emphasizes the integration of movement into everyday lessons across all subject areas, helping to improve focus, memory retention, and collaboration among students. Special attention will be given to how these strategies can support diverse learners, including students with special education needs and those who benefit from trauma-responsive teaching approaches. Through a combination of presentations, hands-on activities, and collaborative lesson design, participants will leave with actionable ideas they can immediately implement in their classrooms. By the end of the session, educators will have a deeper understanding of how active learning can enhance both academic and social-emotional outcomes for their students.
Target Audience: K-12 Teachers and staff
