Description: Join us for “Building Resilience: Implementing Trauma-Informed Practices in Education,” a comprehensive professional development workshop designed for K-12 educators. This session will equip teachers with essential knowledge and strategies to create a supportive and responsive classroom environment for all students, particularly those affected by trauma. Participants will explore the impact of trauma on learning and behavior, learn about the principles of trauma-informed education, and discover practical tools for fostering resilience and emotional safety in their classrooms. We will reference the influential book by Micere Keels, “Trauma Responsive Educational Practices,” to guide our discussions and deepen our understanding. Through interactive activities and collaborative discussions, educators will gain insights into effective communication, classroom management, and creating inclusive spaces that honor the diverse experiences of students. By the end of this workshop, participants will be empowered to implement trauma-responsive practices that enhance student engagement and well-being while promoting a positive school culture. Together, we can build a foundation of understanding and support that helps every student thrive.
Everyone who attends will receive a copy of the book, Trauma Responsive Educational Practices: Helping Students Cope and Learn by Micere Keels.
