There are many cultural and recreational opportunities in Plattsburgh, as well as in the neighboring areas. Enjoy swimming, fishing, boating and sailing in nearby Lake Champlain, or skiing and snowboarding at Whiteface Mountain. You can hike the Adirondack Mountains, canoe down the Saranac or AuSable rivers, go camping and more; we are a 4-season recreational area.
The region is growing economically and supports a strong partnership of higher education, businesses and collaboration to support economic development.
The Plattsburgh region is home to three SUNY colleges: Plattsburgh State
(4-year), Clinton Community College and North Country Community College (both 2-year), and Paul Smiths, a private college.
Shopping, cultural and recreational activities abound in the area: Burlington, VT is only a short ferry ride across Lake Champlain, and Montreal, Canada – a metropolis of 4 million inhabitants – is just over an hour from Plattsburgh.
In fact, many consider Plattsburgh to be Montreal’s US suburb.
Our region features first-rate health care facilities – many are associated with the University of Vermont Health Network in Burlington, providing access to top medical
professionals.
