Parent Visual Supports
The links below contain pages of pictures of familiar foods used in the CVES cafeteria menus. These may be printed on your home printer or you may ask your school professionals to do them for you.
We are hoping that these pictures will give your child a voice and a choice to select foods that he or she may want for breakfast and lunch while at school. Some children have difficulty visualizing the menu choices if it is given with words only. Pictures help your child to “see” the actual foods that he or she might want at school.
Our suggestion is that you present the picture of the main choice (such as “michigan” ) and the alternate. Ask your child “which do you want?” . We will be adding additional pages to these choices, so please come back to our website and check in.
If you have any suggestions for additional picture needs for your own use at home, please ask your child's teacher or speech therapist. We will try to develop additional supports as quickly as we can.
