CVES Career Pathways

CVES Career Pathways consists of a series of programs offering students, ages 14-21 years an opportunity to develop the skills they will need to live, learn and earn within the community. It is our goal to provide each student with the support and guidance needed to ensure that the much-feared transition from school to the adult world is as smooth and seamless as possible.

CVES Career Pathways meets the needs of all disabled students by making available several educational programs. Each of these programs provide different levels of educational programming, varying degrees of support (physical and emotional), and a diversity of in-house and community work experiences (simple to complex).

The choice of which program is most appropriate depends upon the specific needs of the student being referred for services. The school district’s Committee on Special Education make the student referrals to the CVES Career Pathways Programs. All Career Pathways programs include Transition Planning:

  • Annual pre-planning transition meetings
  • Continued support in all areas of independent living such as employment, education, transportation, financial, medical, recreational and residential
  • Services of a job placement aide based upon need and as indicated on the student's Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
  • Problem solving guidelines and intervention as needed
  • Continuous evaluations and assessment of skills development
  • Exit Meeting and the development of a "Student Exit Summary"
  • Consultations with adult service agencies and the services they provide
  • Consultations with adult service providers/counselors/service coordinators, etc. to establish good lines of communications prior to exit
  • Orientation to any new situations prior to exit (i.e., transportation, counseling provider, supported work provider, new work schedule, new living arrangement, etc.)
  • Comprehensive exit portfolio
  • Continuum of services ensuring a smooth transition from school to adult living.
There are currently 7 programs available within Career Pathways to meet the needs of our students with disabilities:
