Library Automation assists libraries in their abilities to share resources through an integrated, circulation management system that provides increased access to available materials, and affords students the opportunity to develop search strategies.
When schools initially automate, the School Library System converts individual catalog cards into machinereadable cataloging (MARC) records. These records are used to create the online catalog (OPAC) for each library. The online catalog is continually updated.
The School Library System provides both on site and phone technical support. Districts have a choice of two automation systems, one maintained on a server in their district, the other maintained at CVES by the School Library System.
