What is SkillsUSA?
SkillsUSA is a student leadership organization for students who attend a technical high school like CV-TEC.
Who Can Join SkillsUSA?
Any student who attends CV-TEC. *Adult students are welcome to join, but can not compete.
What Will I Do If I Join SkillsUSA?
As a SkillsUSA member, you will participate in many school activities such as school and community
service projects, fundraising events, “members only” events, banquets, leadership training, and many others.
You may even be selected to represent CV-TEC at SkillsUSA sponsored Career & Technical Education
Competitions!
Winners of these competitions often win thousands of dollars in scholarship money and prizes. Competitions are held at the local, regional, state, national, and international levels. Most importantly, all of our SkillsUSA members have a lot of fun!
When Can I Join SkillsUSA?
You can join as early as the first week of classes at CV-TEC.
You will be issued your membership card shortly after your registration is entered into the computer.
Who Do I See About Joining SkillsUSA?
You can download a registration form pick one up from Mrs. Barcomb or Ms. Steffens in the Academic Services Office located in the Academic Achievement Center in the North Wing (across from the CV-TEC Café)
or ask your teacher for more information.
Does It Cost Any Money To Join SkillsUSA?
Yes. Each member is responsible for paying a $5.00 membership activation fee. The fee extends your
membership to full benefits into our leadership-training component of the organization.
Where Can I Get More Information About SkillsUSA?
Presentations will be made about SkillsUSA in your class during the first two weeks of school. Your teacher can also answer questions you may have or will be able to direct you to someone who can help.
The BEST way, however, to get more information about SkillsUSA is to talk with someone in your class who was a member last year.
