During the Quebec-New York Economic Summit in Albany, New York on Wednesday, October 5, 2005, the Plattsburgh Aeronautical Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the largest aeronautical school in North America, Ecole nationale d' aerotechnique (ENA ).
Featured as one of three international agreements established by and between organizations on both sides of the US-Canadian border, the ENA-PAI MOU signing was cited by Governor George Pataki and by Quebec's Premier Jean Charest, as an opportunity for both regions to benefit from aeronautical internships, faculty exchanges, access to technical aircraft manuals and access to U.S. and Canadian aviation certifications.
Since the Fall 2005 international MOU signing, PAI partners have continued their discussion with their ENA colleagues as we develop plans to mutually benefit both aviation institutions.

As a result of the appropriations funding secured by Congressman McHugh, Congressman Sweeney, Senator Schumer and Senator Clinton, PAI will be furthering the mission of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) while implementing its own world-class programs. More than $920,000 in funding will be disbursed to PAI through NASA's Langley Research Center, enabling PAI partnes to engage in exciting education and research-related activities.

On July 3, 2006 PAI officials had the opportunity to meet Senator Hillary Clinton and members of Laurentian Aerospace team at the PAI campus. PAI officials had the opportunity to thank Senator Clinton for her bi-partisan role in securing $1 million in federal NASA appropriation funds for the Institute and to reiterate their interest in working closely with Laurentian Aerospace in the years to come.

On June 19, 2006, Governor George Pataki flew into the Plattsburgh International Airport to announce the decision by Laurentian Aerospace to construct a new ultramodern wide body aircraft maintenance facility. This state-of-the-art facility will employ up to 1,500 new aeronautical employees within the first five years of operation and will seek to employ qualified PAI graduates for many years to come.
Along with other North Country and New York State residents, PAI celebrates Laurentian's decision and looks forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Laurentian Aerospace!
PAI Partners, CV-TEC and CCC, strongly support those businesses and individuals who make contributions PIA's "Take Off Fund." Established by the North Country Chamber of Commerce, this regional air service development fund will be used to generate the revenue needed to market regional air service (many airlines require some cost-sharing for initial marketing purposes) and to provide guarantees of first year enplanements. So that our region might attract new air services to the Plattsburgh International Airport, the Chamber has begun accepting contributions toward this important effort. All contributions will become part of a restricted account and will be used to help our region secure new air service over the next two years.
