Hi my name is Renee Devins and I attended cosmetology at CV-TEC in Plattsburgh. When I first started the cosmetology program it was a little overwhelming but I stuck with it & I’m glad I did. Cosmetology is now the love of my life not just a job. I am not the same person that walked into CV-TEC 10 years ago.
I was shy when I first began at CV-TEC. As my enthusiasm for cosmetology grew I new I finally found my passion, that passion was to be a cosmetologist and make people smile. CV-TEC helped me see what I wanted to do with my life; it opened many doors for me. I learned that cosmetology consisted not only of technical skills but people skills as well. It is a great feeling to see your client walk out the door with a big smile on their face.Where am I today? I now own my own salon, a lovely shop with another CV-TEC graduate in Sciota NY. I am doing very well and enjoy all aspects of owning my own salon. After receiving my education at CV-TEC, I worked at great salon for almost nine years, built up my client base and expanded onto my own. I love it so much! For me it’s not work, it's something I love to do so much and clients will see that. I love being creative on clients and they love it to!
I won’t lie there is a lot of work involved in becoming a good stylist. Work hard and it will pay off. So girls/guys stick with it and enjoy your clients, stay positive and you will do fine. I never pictured my self to be where I am today and I did it! Don’t give up, you can do it too!
