Phlebotomy training prepares the learner to perform finger punctures and venous blood drawing for the purpose of obtaining blood samples for laboratory analysis. Individuals who successfully complete the program, acquire training which will enable them to enter a demanding, fast paced, entry level position in health care. Available at the Plattsburgh campus.
This course is also valuable for present health care workers who wish to cross-train and/or add to their present skill base. Professional Certification is available through The National Certification Agency. It is highly recommended that all students receive the Hepatitis B vaccine available through Clinton County Department of Public Health (565-4848) or a private physician (costs range).
25-Day Program - 2/8/12 – 6/20/12 (Projected Dates-Subject to some change)
Classes are once each week on Wednesdays & some Thursdays
Hours 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Total of 70 contact hours spent in the class/laboratory with one field trip.No Prior Experience Necessary
Students must be 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED (a copy is required with application). Students will be required to sign waivers of liability prior to participation in laboratory practice involving self/others.
