The CV-TEC New Visions Medical Careers program is an academically rigorous one-year exploratory program for selected college-bound seniors planning to major in a field of study such as pre-med, chemistry, biology or other allied health fields.

New Visions is geared towards allowing students new opportunities to observe medical professionals in their practice, while studying medical based topics in a college-like atmosphere.  Its goal is to prepare those who will lead us tomorrow, by offering challenging courses in an unique, holistic approach.

Course Description:
New Visions is an intense exploratory course for motivated high school seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in the health sciences.  This course is a culmination of academic coursework, clinical rotation/shadowing experiences, and college preparation.

Students will receive high school credit for the following academic courses: Anatomy and Physiology, English, Economics/Government, Health Careers, and Medical Terminology.  Students may also get up to 9 CAP credits through Clinton Community College, in Human Biology, Medical Terminology, Health Careers, and College Success.

The course is held directly on the CVPH campus in Plattsburgh.  Students spend the morning at their home schools and then come to the hospital in the afternoon.
