Aviation Tech – (New)

Aviation Tech will be offered at the Plattsburgh Aeronautical Institute (PAI).

This program operates for one-half day five days per week. There is a full-day option (five days per week) that would allow students to attend PAI for one-half day and to enroll in a nearby "sponsoring" district or CV-TEC for the other one-half day.

The full-day program option would enable students to complete secondary graduation requirements and allow juniors and seniors residing in areas requiring excessive transportation time to actively participate in the PAI program.

PAI is also designed with one additional year of postgraduate study, to prepare “technician candidates” to take Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) examinations necessary to become FAA-licensed “Airframe” and “Powerplant” technicians.

As high school juniors and seniors enrolled at CV-TEC, candidates will received instruction in “General” aviation and a significant portion of the “Airframe” curriculum as mandated by the FAA as well as international curriculum as mandated by Transport Canada.

While still in high school, Technician Candidates will receive up to 29 college credits for their work along with high school integrated academics. All candidates will receive extensive hands on, aviation-related learning opportunities throughout the duration of their course of study.

PAI training results in a Graduation Certificate from CV-TEC and for those who elect, a 70-hour A.A.S Degree from Clinton Community College. This program includes required summer learning opportunities designed for secondary, Career Track and Post- Secondary Students, and is available to students from any CVES home school.
